  • And we would've gotten away without having a Memetic Mutation article for Scooby-Doo if it wasn't for You Meddling Kids! Explanation In Scooby Doo, it became the point of the villains, once their scheme had been foiled, to refer to Mystery Inc. as "meddling kids." This became more common sometime after the main series, as the closest it ever came to this was in "Jeepers, It's the Creeper!" At any rate, it became the default term used by anyone who was doing something they shouldn't have. This phrase is often lampshaded in more recent incarnations.

    • Zoinks! Explanation Shaggy's Catchphrase.
    • Jinkies! Explanation Velma's Catchphrase.
      • Let's get jinky with it. Explanation What Velma says to the crew in the first film, which was first heard in the trailers.
      • You stop that. Explanation A line from the early Where Are You! episode, "A Gaggle of Galloping Ghosts", said to a guy in a Dracula costume. It's often jokingly referred to as one of Velma's most savage moments, sometimes lumped in with her Mystery Incorporated incarnation where she was much more of a Deadpan Snarker.
    • Jeepers! Explanation Daphne's Catchphrase.
    • "Why, I'd be kicked out of the Scooby gang!" Explanation A social media meme in which the gang says their above-mentioned catchphrases, culminating in the poster's own personal catchphrase (usually a curse word). Scoobynatural would reference it with having the gang say their catchphrases, followed by Dean saying, "Son of a bitch!"
    • FRED SAYS "FUCK!" Explanation A Cartoon Network commercial for Scooby-Doo had Fred going on a censored rant about his ascot, likely cussing and saying the F-word.
    • Would you do it for a Scooby Snack? Explanation Scooby and Shaggy would do anything if enough Scooby Snacks were involved, and jokes about them are common.
    • Let's split up, gang! Explanation Another Once an Episode line and Fred's Catchphrase. This never works well and is used to mock idiots that insist on doing this instead of using safety in numbers.
    • Ta-dadada! Puppy power! Explanation Scrappy's Catchphrase, one of many things used to mock him.
      • Lemme at 'em! Explanation Scrappy's other Catchphrase.
  • The Misadventures of Skooks, a series of highly-quotable Scooby Doo YouTube Poops by the user OrpheusFTW, quickly spawned a bunch of memes shortly after its debut:
    • "Watch me swooce right in! Swooce, swooce!" Explanation In the second part, Shaggy climbs up a ladder and announces that he's going to jump through a window by saying this. Swooce is one of the most popular quotes from the whole series.
    • "Am I glad that he's frozen in there and that we're out here and that he's the sheriff and we're frozen out here and we're in there and I just remembered we're out here....what I want to know is where's the caveman?" Explanation Part 3: Fred and Shaggy look on at the frozen caveman as Shaggy gives a rambling observation about the caveman. Frozen cavemen as sheriffs have become somewhat of a Running Gag in the YouTube Poop community.
    • "Mmmm, you bet!" Explanation Daphne's catch phrase, sort of.
    • "Let's plot a course! Intercourse!"
    • "Let's all meet back at the malt shop!"
    • Would you like to see the strongman?
    • "Secret bitch!" Explanation A vulgar version of "Secret Switch"
    • Lucky for you, I'm a dog lover!
  • Fred's obsession with traps note A term used for male Wholesome Crossdressers in anime who look like girls (Up to Eleven in Scooby-Doo! Mystery Incorporated, to the point that he even has a subscription to "Traps Illustrated") has been interpreted by anime and video game fans to thinking that he is a fan of Wholesome Crossdressers (i.e. Bridget, Astolfo, etc).
  • There seem to be lots of fans who'd love this to be canon. Seriously, go to DeviantArt and type "Johnny Bravo Velma Dinkely" and see what you come up with. (Note that some are SFW, but others clearly are not.)
  • Shaggy became a major Fountain of Memes and Memetic Badass in recent years:
    • Everything's Going to be Daijoubu Explanation A reaction image of an anime-fied Shaggy in the rain (which is a remake of this image ◊) with the said text added above & below him. This was used to express something really, really bad (or potentially heartbreaking) happens.
    • Ultra Instinct Shaggy Explanation Adding on to the above example, having Shaggy punching anime protagonists such as Goku became a popular edit. But it wasn't until an edited video featured Shaggy using Ultra Instinct to defeat a group of bikers (Shaggy does actually beat up a group of bikers in the movie it's taken from, it's simply edited with Dragon Ball Super's powerup theme and after-image effects) that he became a popular, full-fledged Memetic Badass with immense godlike power who can curb-stomp other overpowered characters such as Superman and Saitama into submission, or even God Himself.
      • Shaggy's power Explanation Shaggy's already exaggerated memetic badassery led to jokes and memes about him performing all sorts of incredible feats on a cosmic scale, all with only a small, often near-microscopic percentage of his power. However, other memes portray Shaggy as incapable of solving more mundane or personal problems even with full power, such as getting over an ex, bringing vaporware back from development hell, helping a virgin get laid, etc.
      • Captioned interviews of the movie cast about how Shaggy (no, not Matthew Lillard, Shaggy) as a cast member had been difficult to work with due to his massive power. The meme has also expanded to include other characters, like various characters from SpongeBob SquarePants (mainly Patchy the Pirate and Squidward), Gru from Despicable Me and Dio from JoJo's Bizarre Adventure.
      • "Who said 100% was my limit?" Explanation One of the captioned interviews was of Shaggy explaining he used 98% of his power while filming for the movie, to which the interviewer commented that it was almost full use of his power. Shaggy replied with this.
      • "Are you challenging me?" Explanation Shaggy says this in the 2002 film when Scooby attempts to initiate a farting and burping contest. It naturally became popular due to his sudden popularity, often used in response to another character who could pose a challenge to Ultra Instinct Shaggy.
      • God of Destruction Scooby Explanation An offshoot of Ultra Instinct Shaggy with Scooby being portrayed as a God of Destruction, acting as the Beerus to Scooby's Goku.
      • Became ascended with Mortal Kombat Legends: Battle of the Realms where Ultra Instinct Shaggy drags Scorpion back into the Warner Bros. Animation logo, aura glowing and all (though mainly due to Quan Chi's sorcery; still, the fact that it's Shaggy counts). Then MultiVersus made it canon by explaining he gained his powers via biting a power crystal and the reveal trailer having him punch out Superman.
    • You reposted in the wrong neighborhood note One of the earliest videos of the memetic song mashup "You Reposted in the Wrong Neighborhood" is accompanied by a zoomed-in upside down image of Shaggy's head, with Shaggy's face photoshopped to be right side up (making his thick hair look like a beard and making his chin look like a bald head), starting a trend in which subsequent videos of the mashup swap clean-shaven faces and hair to recreate the same bearded bald look (as seen with President Hathaway) or to once again use an upside down head with the face turned right side up (like with Heinz Doofenshmirtz and Luigi).
    • Shaggy bites something note An image of Shaggy about to bite into food is often photoshopped to have him try to bite something else, like the Crying Child.
  • "Heck Yeah/Heck No/Fuck Yeah/Fuck No Scrappy Doo". Explanation A running trend on tumblr in regards to Scrappy's status within the fandom reaching Base-Breaking Character instead of the Trope Namer that it's based on. Some will make blogs dedicated to praising/loving Scrappy but there was also a gag of haters making tumblr blogs hating on Scrappy, whether for comedic/meme purposes or actual purposes.
  • "scrappy doo was found dead in miami" Explanation A reoccurring phrase said by Scrappy-Doo haters because of how absurd it is. The phrase originated from, of all things, a Dexter-Scooby-Doo crossover where the fanfiction begins with Dexter Morgan learning that Scrappy-Doo was murdered in Miami.
  • Today, Scooby-Doo Meets... Explanation A Tumblr blog that uploads edited screencaps of the title card from The New Scooby-Doo Movies, edited to make it look like the gang is going to meet some random person or thing, such as Gaston, Tommy Wiseau, and the Dashcon ballpit.
  • That's my fetish. ◊ Explanation A reaction meme where everyone is looking horrified at something, while Fred blankly stares with a goofy smile on his face saying that said thing is his fetish. Ironically, there's an alternate version ◊ where Fred is featured with a rather concerned expression instead.
  • Scooby-Doo... but with a gun. Explanation An artist that draws doodles of Scooby-Doo with a gun while Shaggy doesn't notice or is confused by this development. [Something] with a gun is a popular meme in general.
  • "I think Coolsville sucks!" Explanation In the second film, Fred tells the news media that they're taking everything he says out of context and making people think that he thinks Coolsville sucks... which naturally is cut down to this line by a popular news show. Used on social media whenever something is perceived to have been taken out of context.
  • "Shaggy, this isn't weed." Explanation A photoshopped picture of Fred Jones with his face horrifically distorted, implying that he or Shaggy himself has ingested a hallucinogen.
  • "Shaggy is asked to leave the funeral" Explanation This infamous NSFW picture of an Off-Model Shaggy is frequently seen in the dark humor section on 9gag and has made rounds elsewhere on the web. View at your own risk.
  • My friends call me...Dick. Explanation Dick Dastardly, who turns out to be the Big Bad in the new SCOOB! movie, is trying to correct Scooby after he keeps calling him "Rick". Naturally, the internet ran with it, sometimes with the interpretation that Scooby's tricking him into repeating his own name.
    • MY NAME'S! NOT! RIIIIIIIIICK! Explanation Due to Scooby's mispronunciation, people had already made connections to a certain SpongeBob joke of a similar nature.
    • IT'S RIIIIIIIIIIICK! Explanation Some people connect it to a quote from Evil Con Carne.
  • Officer Jaffe Explanation A scene in SCOOB! shows an attractive female officer pulling Mystery Inc. over, only for her to reveal herself as Dick Dastardly in disguise (shown here ◊). It quickly made the rounds due to how well Dastardly pulls off the disguise.
  • Lobster Scrappy. Explanation A frame from Scrappy-Doo and Yabba-Doo with Scrappy in a lobster costume on a platter, has recently been making rounds due to just how inexplicably random and funny it is.
  • I hate my life. Explanation A copypasta where a guy rants about his life and the people around him, only for him to reveal that he's talking from the POV of Fred.
  • "It offered so much more than every other cartoon, it was so ahead of its time, it had a story, they worked hard to figure it out, and it wasn't gender-specific — it wasn't a boys' cartoon or girls' cartoon or any of those things." "It was a talking dog, you know what I mean?" Explanation This snippet from a movie interview with Sarah Michelle Gellar and Freddie Prinze Jr. about what they thought made the original cartoon appealing. Gellar's thoughtful answer versus Prinze's simplistic one quickly made jokes that this is proof that Women Are Wiser and that Fred/Prinze are the himbo in the relationship (especially since the two actors later married).
  • "WHEN YOU REALIZE THAT SHAGGY GOT GAME." Explanation Shaggy has been paired with more women love interests than anyone else in the Hanna-Barbera line, including but not limited to: Daphne (in The 13 Ghosts of Scooby-Doo), Googie and Sadie Mae in the Superstars 10 films, Mei Ling and a clerk girl in What's New, Crystal in Alien Invaders, Madelyn in Abracadabra-Doo, Mary Jane in the movie and later even attempted with Velma in the Mystery Inc. continuity. When someone has been a fan of the series long enough and they end up realizing this, their reactions can best be described along the lines of going apeshit out of sheer disbelief.
  • Fred pronouncing treasure. Explanation Fred in the original series had an odd way of saying treasure, pronouncing it as tray-sure instead of treh-sure. This is often joked as being Fred's actual catchphrase.
